The "NDN BUG" at Eagle Dancer Gallery, League City, Texas

You gotta love the little NDN BUG of League City!

Our 2008 VW Beetle is rapidly becoming a local icon... It's very recognizable, you've probably even seen it yourself and wondered what the heck it is! Our 2008 VW Beetle features a custom made graphic wrap {think really large bumper sticker} which was printed using a photograph of a genuine turquoise stone. The stone we photographed was from a bracelet we once had for sale in the gallery but sold and is now in a private collection. Once the photograph was complete we sent the image to Display Graphics Incorporated located in Houston on Westpark. They have the neatest facility for printing really, really large works {you should see their printer cartridges... HUGE!} and they are well known for producing the best quality graphics in the area. The crew at Display Graphics went to work manipulating the photograph for printing on a large scale. Utilizing a new adhesive film technology from 3M the team at Display Graphics printed the graphic. They spent about a week or so installing the graphic on the VW... What's really neat is the fact they matched the seams of the car with the turquoise matrix, in other words... The matrix in the graphic seems to run from one body panel to the next on the VW exactly as it does within the real stone. There is no mis-matched aspect to the graphic, it flows seamlessly... The VW really does appear to made of turquoise!

The staff at Display Graphics assures us the graphic will last 6 years or longer without any diminishment of the photo quality. Eventually the sticker will crack and shrink like all bumper stickers do but when that time comes we reach another neat aspect of the graphic process... We can simply remove the entire graphic from the car and viola... It's the original paint scheme {a silver VW!}. As a matter of fact the graphic actually preserves the original paint to some degree, it will help the original paint look better once we decide to remove the graphic.

The NDN BUG is a concept we had hoped to complete since the very first time we understood that VW planned to re-issue the beetle. It has turned out much better than we imagined thanks to the photography assistance of our late friend/client Mr. Steve Lieber and Display Graphics Incorporated. If you see the NDN BUG cruzing around town feel free to say hello... We're always happy to make new friends.
